Collings Foundation Wings of Freedom Tour 2007 Connecticut
The Collings Foundation brought the barnstorming Wings of Freedom Tour to southern Connecticut for a week long stay beginning the Tuesday after Labor Day. The Wings of Freedom Tour was started in 1989 as a way to recognize the veterans who served our country in WWII as well as to educate the visitors who come to see these planes at each tour stop . The aircraft involved in the tour are the B-17 “Nine O Nine,” the B-24 “Witchcraft,” and the B-25 “Tondelayo.” The first stop on the Connecticut leg of the tour was Igor I Sikorsky Memorial Airport in Stratford which was followed by a stay at Waterbury / Oxford airport.
